The city of Long Beach—and much of the music world, actually—mourns the loss of gifted producer and musician Ikey Owens, who was found dead in his Mexico hotel room last month, apparently from suffering a heart attack. Owen was touring as a keyboardist with Jack White, just one of the many high-profile and prolific musical groups Owens was part of. A native of Long Beach, he was “Long Beach's Ultimate Sonic Wingman,” and now, the city pays respect in a way Owens would appreciate. Alex's Bar opens its doors for an all-day tribute to the local legend, starting at 2 p.m., with a full lineup of bands and DJs playing soul, rock, funk and jazz. The man may be gone—but he definitely won't be forgotten.
