Tickled Pink

Could there be a profession more terrifying than a comedian? Oh, the horror of those blank stares and tortuously awkward silences. How the hell can someone even find the cajones to get up on that stage? Maybe by accident. That’s the story of Mindy Solomon, the main character in comedian and best-selling author Rita Rudner’s theatrical adaptation of her novel, Tickled Pink. Rudner plays Mindy, a bright-eyed girl from Miami who sets sail to New York City with hopes of becoming a Broadway dancer. But instead of cutting a rug, she finds herself hanging out in a comedy club, where one day, she serendipitously stumbles on stage and, to her surprise, she's actually funny. So head out to the Laguna Playhouse for what Rudner calls an “unauthorized biography” and you’ll surely leave, yes, tickled pink.

Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: April 24. Continues through May 20, 2012
