The Anti-iTunes Stand: Why AC/DC, Kid Rock and Garth Brooks are Still Holdouts

Seriously, we thought iTunes was going to announce something really cool today, but all it was, is that the Beatles are finally on iTunes. Ho-hum, maybe. You might think, who on earth is going to download the White Album in a new format AGAIN? 

Well, a ton of people, apparently. After all, TechCrunch just announced that ALL 17 ALBUMS ARE NOW ON iTUNES TOP 100!

Poking around the Internet, though, we found a few other artists who are still not on iTunes; read what AC/DC, Kid Rock, Bob Seger and Garth Brooks have to say after the jump.

AC/DC
Angus Young told The Daily Telegraph in 2008 that AC/DC  make albums, not singles.  “If we were on iTunes, we know a certain percentage of people would only download two or three songs from the album,” he said. “We don't think that represents us musically.”

Kid Rock
Kid Rock told Billboard, “As soon as someone says, 'You have to be on iTunes … they're the No. 1 retailer' … I don't have to. Because I remember being a kid when I heard a song that I liked, I would jump on the bus, ride to Detroit, get a $2.50 transfer and walk a mile to the hip-hop store to buy the new Eric B. N Rakim record. You're not going to stop people from obtaining what they want if it's available at some level.”

Garth Brooks

In an Associated Press story, Garth Brooks was quoted to have said, “They [iTunes] truly think that they're saving music…My hat's off to them. I looked at them right across the table
with all the love in the world and told them they were killing it.”
