Closing out the annual Karneval season— the German twist of Mardi Gras— is Lumpenball, the festival where raggedy attire is chic! Traditionally, rags and old clothing are supposed to contrast against the high end, luxurious garments already worn at Karneval, which celebrates the last big hurrah before Lent. At today’s fête, bring out your best worst threads to revel at the end of Fasching and pay your respects to the Phoenix Club’s Prinz Karneval with a procession of mourners.
