Gay Old Party Presidential Hopeful Fred Karger Officially Pulls Out of Race

Voters who pinned their pink-hued hopes on Fred Karger, the gay, Republican presidential candidate from Laguna Beach, can officially
drown their sorrows in a glass of Cabana Boy Rum Sunset

A paltry 6,641 Californians voted for Karger during the Republican primary on June 5.
Today he announced his official withdrawal from the race.

“It's been one hell of a ride, and I want
to thank the thousands of people across this country who volunteered,
contributed, opened their homes, came to our events and cheered me on,” Karger said in a statement.
“Special thanks to the thousands more who shared their stories with me
in person, via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Every one of you kept me
going.”

Karger on Tuesday wrapped up his presidential bid in Utah, home of the last primary in the country.
It was there that Nanette Billings–wife of
Washington County Republican Party Chairman Willie Billings–emailed Karger to tell him that he is “an idiot,” and that the Frisbee and shirt Karger
had given her husband was “now out in the trash.”
Of course, Karger ran for president not because he believed he had a real shot at winning, but to
perhaps reshape the thinking of the Republican Party when it comes to homosexuality and same-sex marriage.
“I plan to rest up for awhile and then I will be back at it to help in
the fight for LGBT equality,” Karger said. “We will let you know as soon as our exact
course is determined.”
