Colleen Green and Mozes & the Firstborn

L.A.’s Colleen Green traffics in Vaselines-style sarcasm, deadpan and guitar that comes in one unending wave of distortion, like a TV left broadcasting static all night. She’s ferociously versatile, too, playing out armed with as little as her trademark shades and a drum machine or sometimes with a full band of Nashville rocker hotshots, as well as doing her distinctive bored-in-study-hall portraiture, making her own version of Cribs—recently featuring OC’s Dudes House—and even interviewing people like Thurston Moore for L.A.’s Dirty Laundry TV. The popular press likes to call her a slacker, but that’s not right—it’s just that she makes it all look so effortless.
