Get your 420 on this week! From candlelit medicated yoga to auditioning for a canna-TV show to wandering among the Joshuas in the desert on a five day cannabis and wellness retreat– there’s lots of greenery in the scenery this week. Here’s a list of herbal events happening in SoCal that’ll immerse you in the blossoming, smoky community. Just remember: You must be at least 21 to attend (unless stated otherwise) and have a valid doctors recommendation. Oh, and don’t medicate and drive!

Elevator Night: Cannabis Industry

The monthly elevator nights are a curated experience bringing together some of the most successful and affluent individuals from around the globe for a focused opportunity to invest in a selection of hand-picked companies. This month the focus is on Cannabis and how it’s influencing business, culture and everyday lives. There will be three panels filled with cannabis experts and business owners, a Q & A session following each panel, networking, snacks to eat and cocktails to enjoy while mingling. Cannabis Industry Mixer & Panel

Tonight you can expect an amalgamation of cannabis brands, dispensary owners, lawyers, marketing experts, press and people who are genuinely interested in working in cannabis. This event is for education and networking. There will be a host of guest speakers including: Andre Bourque, cannabis correspondent of Entrepreneur Mag; Russell Akiyama from Absolute Herbal Pain Solutions dispensary; Chris Hoo of Evergreen Law; and Enrico Moses of High Standards Agency. There will be drinks and snacks served, while Professor Moses curates a night of fabulous music.

Candlelight Ganja Yoga

The only thing better than candlelit yoga is medicated candlelit yoga. Tonight you have the chance to get your glow on at the Love Dome in heart of Venice Beach. There will be vapes and low dose chocolates for you to indulge in to help lift you into meditative self awareness. Tonight’s teacher, Saku, will lead you through a stellar sequence of asanas that explore the physical, mental and spiritual realms of cosmic self discovery. All levels are welcome to come to this class. You must be at least 21 to attend and have a valid doctors recommendation.

Highway 420: Venice Beach and Hollywood Cannabis Tasting Tour

Experience Southern California’s first cannabis tasting and party bus tour. Cannabis enthusiasts will visit Hollywood and Venice Beach’s local dispensaries, the famous boardwalk ,the Hollywood Hemp Museum comedy show and see a live cultivation site. The party bus will be fully stocked with multiple strains of flower, concentrates, vape cartridges and edibles– all of which will be available for your sampling pleasures. You must be at least 18 to attend and have a doctors recommendation. There will be doctors onsite writing recommendations, so if you don’t have one and want to go, you still can!

Studying the Effects of Marijuana Use

This is a great event for those who are curious about the scientific side of cannabis. Dr. Thomas Marcotte is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Center Manager of both the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research. He recently served as the Director of Mental Health for the UCSD Owen HIV clinic, which serves 3,000 HIV patients. He also served as a co-director of Charter, a national multi-site study of the CNS impact of treatments for HIV. Dr. Marcotte will give an update on recent findings regarding what is known about the relationship between automobile crashes and cannabis use in states that have legalized recreational use. He will also review challenges in determining cannabis related impairments in the field. Lastly, he’ll discuss the aims and methods being undertaken in a recently funded project examining the effects of acute cannabis use on driving performance, as well as its effects on current (and potentially new) field assessments. The other speaker, Dr. Sobolesky will detail the development of detecting marijuana usage in breath, blood and oral fluid by LC-MS/MS. He will review the method development and discuss significant findings of the project. Mr. Macchi will discuss recent California laws relating to cannabis sale and distribution, while Dr. Smith moderates the event.

The State of Cannabis

The State of Cannabis is a two day conference that brings together cannabis industry leaders, elected officials, doctors, lawyers, regulators and other interested parties in an elegant and fun setting. On site consumption is allowed as well as sampling of our sponsors products. Meals are included as well as a VIP After Party. If you purchase a VIP ticket, you also get a sweet swag bag. This is the place to educate yourself on what’s happening in the political, social and environmental cannabis world. It’s also the place to meet the people who are creating the laws of cannabis’ future.

Cannabis Casting Call

Emerald Sharks Entertainment is getting ready to start production on a series of short comedic reenactments inspired by the cannabis industry. This is a casting call for an ongoing series; actual casting will vary depending on the part and production schedule. In order to be eligible for auditions you must: Be between 21 and 65 years old; possess a valid California ID; have a doctors recommendation; and some acting experience.

A Night of Art, Music and Cannabis

Join high standards for an evening that highlights some of LA’s top up and coming street artists. See their work and learn their creative process, as well as how cannabis has uplifted and enhanced their art. The event will feature: Camille Waldorf, whose expressive art is notable for the intensity and movement in the figurative works; Kasim Patton, he documents the Hip-Hop scene of L.A. He also transform objects in his immediate surroundings to conceptual artistic images; Michael Angel Fernandez III, who focuses on challenging him self with different mediums of paint and techniques; and Be Boggs an LA based multimedia artist, specializing in capturing the art of storytelling.

Ananda Fest

The aim is to inform and empower patients and providers, thus improving health and overall wellness. Over this five day retreat held in Joshua Tree you can expect yoga, meditation, healing, wellness, hiking, vendors, live mural artists, a 3D psychedelic lounge and more. There will be organic medicated and non-medicated meals. It’s designed to help people understand how to use cannabis properly. This type of wellness and cannabis education is a part of an unofficial campaign led by people across the cannabis industry who want people to understand the various applications of the herb as more states legalize it–Peter Tosh would be proud. Needless to say, it’s destined to be a fabulous time.

Cannabis Cooking Experience

Join L.A. Cannabis Chefs and Happy Hippy Co. for an in-depth, hands on 2.5 hour class, detailing basic and advanced cannabis culinary techniques. Learn different methods of infusion and how to perfect your cannabis cooking skills and dosages, whether you’re an edibles expert or it’s your first time infusing in the kitchen. You can enjoy your tasty treats in class while learning and there’ll be plenty of time to ask questions, so you can take your new skills back home with you. Space is limited for this event! Abracadabs Golf Tournament

Abracadabs Festival is hosting a golf tournament for industry folk and cannabis enthusiasts this Friday in Burbank. There’ll be lots of wax, oil and flower derivatives to help you fly through nine-holes. On top of playing nine-holes, the registration fee covers a golf cart, a sweet cannabis sponsor bag (that means products for you to take home) and lunch. You’ll also be able to mingle with some of the industry’s finest golf loving influencers, business owners and community personalities. Event is 18+, a doctors recommendation is required and feel free to bring your own medicine and accessories to ingest on the green.

Puff, Pass & Paint: A 420 Friendly Creative Cannabis Class

This 2-hour Puff, Pass & Paint class supplies all you’ll need to get your paint on. Although the event is sponsored by Alchemy Vape Pens, the event is BYOC (bring your own cannabis) in order to comply with local laws. That said, this event is a consumption event, and it’s encouraged to bring your own so you can imbibe freely and get yourself into a creative zen space via herbal delights. Attendees will receive exact address of location after purchase of ticket to comply with local laws for consumption-friendly spaces. Non-refundable/non-transferable. Must be 21 to attend.

The Second City Comedy Show

They say there’s no better medicine than laughter, so why not pair it with another miraculous medicine: Cannabis! Civilized, The Second City and the historic Montalbán Theatre will present the first of a series of comedy events on September 28 and 29, with live shows featuring iconic material from The Second City archives, original sketches about modern cannabis culture, and The Second City’s world-famous improvisation. You don’t have to like cannabis to enjoy this event!

Cannabis Enhanced Tea Ceremony and Yoga

Local High Society and Silk & Jade Tea Collective, together bringing you a one of a kind cannabis experience in Downtown Glendale. Join Silk & Jade and yoga teacher Jessy Chang (both featured in Viceland’s Bong Appetit S2E10 PAKISTANI POT PAKORAS) for a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony followed by a calming and relaxing yoga session accompanied with hands-on adjustments and massage with essential CBD oils. There is a 7pm arrival and smoke sesh with our budtender mixing up top quality herbs. From 7:30 -8pm there will be a tea ceremony. Lastly there will be an hourlong yoga sesh from 8-9pm. Cannabis + Yoga Class: Outdoors Sunset Class

Get your zen on while the sun settles for bed. Sunday’s sunset class consists of a 20 minute canna-ceremony, where everyone partakes in smoking a hybrid strain of flowers. An intention will be set with an ancient “herb mantra” and then flow into a 50 minute practice of easy yoga poses. Must be 21 and have a valid doctor’s recommendation.
