The last time I wrote about Alessandro Pirozzi, he confided about the space along Pacific Coast Highway he was about to acquire. Eight months later, I found it now open. When I drove by last Monday, it was swarming.

The kitchen will be cranking out handcrafted pasta and gelato daily. If that doesn't make you a little guilty, then the proscuitto and mozzarella bar will. The centerpiece is a 900-degree, wood-burning oven (large enough to bake 10 pizzas at once). Open every day, they hope to start serving lunch in the next week.
