The last time I wrote about Alessandro Pirozzi, he confided about the space along Pacific Coast Highway he was about to acquire. Eight months later, I found it now open. When I drove by last Monday, it was swarming.
Offering both people-watching patio and modest dining room tables, Pirozzi has tweaked a concept to include a little bit of everything. If you've got parking karma, here's what little we learned about the space.
The kitchen will be cranking out handcrafted pasta and gelato daily. If that doesn't make you a little guilty, then the proscuitto and mozzarella bar will. The centerpiece is a 900-degree, wood-burning oven (large enough to bake 10 pizzas at once). Open every day, they hope to start serving lunch in the next week.
