Zappa Plays Zappa: Roxy & Elsewhere 40th Anniversary Tour

When Frank Zappa released Roxy & Elsewhere in 1974, he fused his mad-genius level of songwriting with his sharp comedic skills and badass progressive rock musicianship—and the world was never the same. Marking the album's 40th anniversary, Zappa Plays Zappa, the so-much-more-than-a-tribute band led by Frank's oldest son Dweezil, embark on a North American tour playing the record in its entirety. Most of the original songs were recorded at the Roxy in Hollywood, and later dubbed over via studio equipment, with only three songs (from other shows) kept in their purely-live format. These tracks were meant to be played and heard live on stage, pulsating through amps and flowing over crowds. Head to the House of Blues tonight, if only to hear “Son of Orange County” live for once in your life.
