White Elephant Mix: Argyle Smile

This year, OC/LB bands have come together to provide us with a smokin' holiday soundtrack called the White Elephant Mix. Jared Parsons of fey indie-poppers Argyle Smile gets a little goofy on his brief ode to one of life's most simple pleasures: macaroni and cheese.

“O Mac N Cheese,” based on the melody to “O Tannenbaum,” tells the tale of his favorite culinary gift, although it does acknowledge that even the most enjoyable foods have a cost: “O Mac N Cheese, O Mac N Cheese, why are you so delicious? O Mac N Cheese, O Mac N Cheese, you stain up all my dishes. . . .” Christmas is a time to be thankful for things both great and small, so cook up a big bowl and listen while you chow down.

OC Weekly: What's the best gift you've ever gotten?
Jared Parsons: The best gift would have to be this awesome Batman stunt show toy when I was a young boy. I believe that either I lost it, or broke all the pieces to it within one day, but the memories still live on.
What do you want from Santa this year?
This year I have asked the proverbial Santa for some new clothes, some booze and iTunes gift cards, which are always awesome.
What do you love most about the holiday season?
My favorite part of the holiday season would have to be seeing my friends and family that I love, and that I don't normally get to see.
Were you naughty or nice this year?
A little from column A, and a little from column B.
Why did you pick this song? What's so special about it?
I love macaroni and cheese. Not just during the holidays, but always. Mmmmm…
What's your favorite Christmas memory?
My favorite Christmas memory would have to be when I say, “It's Christmas. I love this!” And that is every year.
