UPDATE: Metallica's Own 2-Day Fest in New Jersey Called Orion; Avenged Sevenfold on the Bill

Update, Feb. 7, 11:25 a.m.
:
Metallica is hosting their own music festival on June 23 and 24 at Bader Field in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Called Orion Festival, it's going to be held on the East Coast in an abandoned airport. (“There's water around if there's a fire,” the band joked.) The band picked 22 acts on the lineup themselves, including Huntington Beach's Avenged Sevenfold, but Metallica is headlining both nights.
They're going to be playing the Black album in its entirety–something the band's never done in America, and all of Ride the Lightning as well! OMGz.

Last Saturday Metallica released a 30-second “Save The Date” video that says a special announcement will be made tomorrow on Metallica.com at 11 a.m. What could it be? We have three theories…after the jump.
]

1. A Lulu Tour! Given the universal panning of the Lou Reed-Metallica collaboration, this probably won't be the most popular announcement Metallica's ever made. But Lou Reed did just announced details for a European tour, so maybe Lulu + Metallica will be part of it.

2. A Metallica-Themed Cirque Du Soleil Show
In September, Lars Ulrich was interviewed by Rog and
Bryce on New Zealand's top rock station The Rock FM
, where he said, “We have been kicking some ideas around about doing some stuff that —
how shall I say it — is pretty theatrical . . . We might incorporate a
lot of different ideas, instead of it being one particular thing. It
would be a multitude of theatrical elements, maybe as an idea for a
one-off tour or something.” So why not Cirque du Soleil? Michael Jackson did it, the Beatles did it…Metallica would be an incredible show.

3. A 3D movie!
The band confirmed their 3D film project
last month, but said it wouldn't be out til 2013. But the teaser vid says
“You've seen them at festivals across the world, but you've never seen
them…” so maybe that's it!
