Previously scheduled to open for business on June 1, Gatten Sushi's website now only advertises their official grand opening for Saturday, June 18.
Calling themselves a revolving sushi factory, Gatten is one of a family of restaurants owned by RDC. Other members include Katsutoshi (cutlet), Karamenya Jyube (noodle), and Oshimaya (fish market). Established in 1986, Gatten differentiates themselves from competitors by offering over 60 varieties of sushi alone. Open daily at 11 a.m., the Orange County branch will serve its clientele until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, ten o'clock on other evenings. To celebrate the occasion, Gatten will be selling all of their plates for a buck apiece. Better watch out, Irvinites, because there's nothing like hungry anteaters college students on the prowl — although the previous occupants didn't fare as well.
