Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' 2010 North American tour will visit the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine on June 3. More than three decades into their career, the Heartbreakers still deliver a fiery, no-frills rock & roll show of the highest order. No matter how many times you've heard their hits on the radio–or your dad's stereo–they're one of those bands that everybody should see at least once, if only to witness Mike Campbell's brilliant guitar playing. My Morning Jacket and Drive-By Truckers open a few tour dates but we get Joe Cocker. Oh well. Tickets go on sale March 8 via LiveNation.com.
The Heartbreakers are touring in support of Mojo, their first studio album in eight years. It's set for release on Reprise Records this spring. Purchase your tickets online and you receive an email with codes entitling you to download Mojo tracks “First Flash Of Freedom” and “Good Enough.” Ticket buyers will be sent a download of Mojo in its entirety on the release date of the album. Then, at the end of the 2010 tour, you will be sent a selection of live tracks recorded during the tour. Nice.
