This Week in Pygama Condors

Like preemies in plastic domed cribs, people of all ages and sexual prowess need to be touched. For some people, finding a cuddle buddy is as easy as telling a crush you're just friends and then reaping the benefits of a platonic spooning session. But for those who have a much harder time securing a warm body, there is a safe and somewhat socially acceptable alternative (read: depends greatly on the company you keep) to nuzzling with plush Tazmanian devils or cocooning in your childhood blanket with a pint of Breyers: after a successful year-long stint in New York, cuddle pros and Cuddle Party founders REiD Mihalko and Marcia Baczynski inspired Anaheim resident Doug Lippincott, a Certified Cuddle Party Facilitator, to move the touch fest out west and deliver the newest form of therapy on the market.

As OC-Cuddle.com explains, “Part workshop, part social event and lots of G-rated fun, a Cuddle Party provides a safe, nonsexual space to explore consensual touch, affection, sensuality and respectful communication.” For nervous first-timers, every cuddle party is operated under very specific cuddle rules. While kissing and nuzzling are allowed, sex and dry humping are prohibited, and every cuddle begins with a request for permission—if you're not into it, just say no. But if you're down, then get all pretzel-like with fellow pajama-ed adults and encourage one another to laugh, cry or even take a nap. This is pre-foreplay for the shy or unlucky set; reach out and touch . . . flannel?

OC Cuddle Party at a private residence, Anaheim. Contact Doug Lippincott at (714) 995-3941 or do**@oc*******.com for more information and reservations. Sun., 6 p.m. Flexible donation.
