You remember them – Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta, and Gretl. Except these are the actual von Trapp children, the grandchildren of Kurt (real life Werner von Trapp), which makes them the great-grandchildren of “Captain” Baron von Trapp, and his second wife, Maria. After their ancestors escaped Austria and settled in Vermont, the youngest of the von Trapps (Sofia, Melanie, Amanda, and August) moved out to Montana, where grandfather “Kurt” would visit and teach them folk songs. Now in their early 20’s, the von Trapps have been touring since they appeared in a stage version of The Sound of Music in 1997, most recently teaming up with Pink Martini and Storm Large.
