A few seconds into Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.'s 2013 release The Speed of Things, and your realize how much your ears are in for a harmonious treat. The duo's tantalizing music features Brian Wilson-esque vocals, synth pop and and indie rock converging for a light, airy sound. Appearing with headliner Atlas Genius, a group with similar indie-folk rock vibes. As an opening act, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will simply whisk you away with their sleepy, sun-kissed sound and refresh your mind like a breath of new air. Many years ago, Hurricane's in Huntington Beach–you know, the glowing raucous party bunker overlooking Main Street–was known as the spot to pick up Young Republicans. Later, explained this very paper, it evolved into the spot to pick up porn stars. But this Friday, it becomes the spot to battle your Halloween hangover with a little of the hair-of-the-werewolf-that-bit-ya and the suddenly extremely appropriately named DJ Curse of the legendary Beat Junkies. No word on if you get any drink specials for showing up in the ragged remains of whatever you wore until it tore the night before. But please, in advance, take the ragged remains of our sympathy and then take whatever Dr. Curse recommends, too. (Chris Ziegler)

Lisa Marie Presley

We can all get over the fact that Lisa Marie Presley comes from a musical lineage, although her music does recall early Sun Records-era Elvis Presley with her twangy twist on folk rock. A little bit of country, a little bit of rock and roll, Ms. Presley is a born singer-songwriter, and her smokey vocals hint a dark, sensual soulfulness with every word she sings. Now a bonafide Billboard chart topper, Presley's garnered praise all around and officially stepped out of her father's shadow, delivering her own brand of contemporary folk for our own enjoyment. Tonight she serenades audiences at The Coach House. (Aimee Murillo)

Glassjaw
The Observatory
Few post-hardcore bands are able to cultivate the mystique that lets them get away with only put out two full length records over a 20 year period. Inciting mosh pits since 1993, Glassjaw has retained it's rabid fanbase who have kept them a live despite numerous lineup changes and hiatuses throughout the 00's. Their stack of EP's and demos they've amassed since they began have become legendary. And though it's now over a decade old, 2002's Worship and a Tribute is still as fresh, brutal and beautiful as t was the day it was pressed. In the hands of founder and frontman Darryl Palumbo and guitarist Jason Beck, those songs are sure to hold up on any stage they play on.This weekend, the band performs with Into Another at the Observatory. Last Shot Celebration

Rarely does the staff of this infernal rag need an excuse to have a good time. But when it comes to celebrating one of our own, you can bet we show up, and we party. That's the plan this Sunday, Nov. 3, as we come together for a special gathering in honor of Andrew Youssef, beloved Weekly concert photographer and the subject of a recent cover story detailing his life and times. Those that know Youssef are aware of his long battle with cancer, which has pushed him to do some amazing things like shoot over 330 concerts and meet just about every rock star and band he loves since he was diagnosed over two and a half years ago.
His enduring spirit inspired us to reach out to friends, family and colleagues in Youssef's life to see him, hug him, embarrass him and make memories that will far outweigh the importance of Sunday Night Football. The event is free and takes place from 7-10 p.m at the Observatory. (Nate Jackson)
