The Five Must-See Local EDM Shows in June

Any EDM fan knows that this month marks the 18th annual Electric Daisy Carnival – the US's largest dance music festival held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway June 20th – 22nd. But if you're not one of the 400,000 fans waiting for their EDC package with tickets in the mail this week, then fear not. With so many artist being routed through Orange County these days, you can get your EDM dance fix every week to some of electronic music's biggest names and favorite local DJs. We did all the hard work for you and picked out the five must-see shows happening right here in your own backyard. The only thing missing is carnival rides and fireworks, but with fourth of July and the OC Fair right around the corner, we think you'll survive.

5. Crookers, Bones B2B Precept and Mikey Made
Thursday, June 5th
Yost Theater

The hilarious and talented Italian Francesco 'Phra' Barbaglia, or Crookers as he's known on stage, celebrates the release of the remixes for his latest hit “Able To Maximize” on his own Ciao Records today, which includes reworks by artist like Chuckie and Franskild. Currently on his US tour, he makes his way to Santa Ana as part of White Rabbit's HAVOC Thursdays at the Yost Theater this week. With opening support from local favorites Bones back-to-back with Precept and Mikey Made, you can expect an epic bass heavy electro party for the 18-and-over crowd that likes to turn up on a school night. 9:30pm, 307 N. 4. Trent Cantrelle, Freddy Be and Native Behavior
Wednesday, June 11th
Le Cave

Trent Cantrelle's “Sounds Like” Sunday parties and Freddy Be's “Monday Night Social” in LA have become staple's with the underground dance music community. This month the Modern Disco Ambassador's bring the same deep house groove to OC for their reputable Le Cave Wednesdays. House heads, hipsters, talented taste-makers and good beats is what you can look forward to with additional opening support by the house duo Native Behavior. 3. Adrian Lux

Sutra

Currently on his “Make Out West Tour,” the Swedish Grammy nominated Adrian Lux releases his highly anticipated EP Make Out on Ultra Records today. His vocally infused indie sound will be a break from the big EDM bangers that Element Thursdays offers, but don't be fooled the 28-year-old DJ and producer knows how to get down behind the decks after touring the world (and the states) after the success of his hit “Teenage Crime.” The new EP features collabs with vocalists Kaelyn, Behr, Lune, Marcus Schossow, jj & Last Lynx so expect lots of new music in OC! 9pm, 1870 Harbor Blvd., Costa Mesa, CA 92627.

2. Focus 11 Year Anniversary with Pleasurekraft
Tuesday, June 17
Focus OC (Tapas)

It's going to be hard to top last year's 10 anniversary with a surprise deep house set by Kaskade, but this year the Focus guys (Josh Billings, Wobs, and Nonfiction) will be celebrating by opening for the Kraftek label heads Pleasurekraft. Though it will most likely only be Kaveh who lives in Washington DC, the night will feature some of our favorite local house music aficionados, deep beats, stiff drinks and the best taco Tuesday in town. Running an all underground dance music club in OC for 11 years is quite the accomplishment so expect nothing but good tech vibes at this 18-and-over party. 9:30 – 2am, 453 Martingale Way, Newport Beach, CA 92660.

1. Mat Zo, ANDR3X, Steven Wright, TREO & BRKLYN
Sunday, June 29th
Mist Day Club

The only thing missing this month from your EDC FOMO is an epic pool party, but thanks to our friends at Identity Management group you don't have to miss out! Their summer Mist Day Club launches at the end of this month with a new location at the Hotel Irvine. Straight off his Kill The Zo tour, Mat Zo will bring his genre defying sound from his number one charting album Damage Control spliced with the funky stuff he's working on now – like his current free single “Get Down 2 Get Up.” With opening sets by ANDR3X, Steven Wright, TREO & BRKLYN this will be one of the biggest OC parties of the summer. 2pm, 17900 Jamboree Road, Irvine, CA 92614.
