Yuna
The Glass House
In her native Malaysia, Yuna is a superstar. The 27-year-old singer/songwriter's rise to fame there is partially due to the area's explosion of social media, and, of course, her infectious brand of pop, which she's described as a “cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay.” And in a relatively short period of time, she's already worked with the likes of Pharrell Williams and David Foster. But what separates Yuna from our country's stream of emerging pop princesses, besides her Muslim faith, is that she's one of the rare foreign talents to really register with American audiences. In addition to the slew of awards she's won in her homeland, Yuna is known for her IAMJETFUELshop, and was given a National Youth Icon Award by the Prime Minister. As she builds a fanbase a world away from her homeland, Yuna proves she has the talent and drive that could very well make her the next unlikely pop star. (Daniel Kohn)

Mike Posner
Ten Nightclub
After a successful acoustic tour last season that saw Mike Posner play guitar and piano at intimate venues, peppering his soulful sets with Q&A sessions and story-telling, the singer/songwriter/producer to the stars is ready to get back to his roots. Headlining tonight's bill at Ten Nightclub, Posner will light up the stage with his hits including “Cooler Than Me,” “Please Don't Go,” “Bow Chicka Wow Wow” and more. With his undeniably amiable nature, Posner remains a popular draw–fans are eagerly awaiting the new LP Pages, his follow-up to 2010's smash 31 Minutes to Takeoff. And this sophomore album carries some big weight–Posner promises that for every copy sold, he will donate a meal to a child in need. He's just that nice. (Erin DeWitt)

Seeing Dave Matthews Band in the summertime has become a rite of passage for music lovers. Not quite a jam band, DMB has won over fans with their eclectic live shows that feature extended instrumentals, covers and added layers to well-known songs. Touring relentlessly since the early '90s, the Charlottesville natives' original frat-bro following has managed to transcend into a sort of dad-rock fanbase over the years, while introducing a younger generation to a band that melds alt rock, jazz fusion and folk. On their current summer tour, the group is playing two sets: a short acoustic session followed by a heavier (by their standards) electric one. Hardcore fans will want to get to the show early since, according to previous set lists, the band has dusted off some deep cuts. (Daniel Kohn)

Huntington Beach Food, Art and Music Festival

There's a lot happening at the Huntington Beach Food, Art & Music Festival, so let's get right to it. There's a juried art event that spotlights everything from photography to sculpture to painting to crafts and jewelry. There's a massive amount of food to be consumed, from local restaurants and BBQ teams alike. Plenty of wine will be poured, courtesy of wineries from all across California. And then there's the music. Performances include Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray, Jefferson Starship celebrating their 40th anniversary, Gary Wright, Dramarama, Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons, Michelle Branch, John Popper, Gin Blossoms–and an all-star band consisting of Toto's Bobby Kimball, Loverboy's Mike Reno, Night Ranger's Kelly Keagy, and about a ton more. Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas
Constellation Room
At first glance, vocalist Jessica Hernandez will mesmerize you with her dark beauty and Bettie Page bangs, leaving you unprepared for the soulful vocals she's about to unleash. Along with her band The Deltas, Hernandez creates a dark brand of pop, aptly coined as “gothic pop,” combined with a classic soul sound presumably influenced by the Motown roots of her native Detroit. Hernandez also contributes instrumental elements such as piano and percussion that, mixed in with the horn, piano, and accordion action of The Deltas, delivers a vibrant synergy of pop, rock, psych rock and rockabilly together for a musical pick-me-up.
