Starbucks' 'Secret Menu': The Key Lime Pie Frappuccino

Daniel Tomita

So it's no secret that there are all sorts of crazy personalized concoctions people foist upon their local Starbucks baristas, but this is the first time we've heard of this one.

OC Weekly Twitter follower @RikiYamada (follow us on Twitter at @OCWeekly and @OCWeeklyFood) was kind enough to share with us his recipe for the Key Lime Pie Frappuccino.

Find out the recipe and our verdict after the jump!

In a grande cup:

  • Lemonade filled up to the first line
  • Milk to the second line
  • 3 pumps of Frappuccino cream base
  • 3 pumps of white mocha
  • 2 scoops of protein
  • Ice

My barista–who also complimented me on my hair, you awesome, awesome man, you–crinkled his nose at the drink, then added a sprinkling of toasted coconut and chocolate syrup to top it off, saying he thought it'd make it taste better.

Our verdict? Our resident caffeine addict/Associate Editor Patty Marsters reports that the drink tastes more like a coconut-cream pie than key lime–with only a slight acidic aftertaste. And, actually, a coconut-cream pie is a tastier option anyway.
