Smokey Robinson

You’d think that after 70 years, 37 Top 40 Hits, innumerable Grammy nominations, an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and being dubbed the “King of Motown,” Smokey Robinson would consider slowing his pace. But oh, no—he’ll be enchanting passengers aboard the Queen Mary this Wednesday night. Part of the summer-long 2010 Long Beach Sea Festival, Robinson’s appearance is sure to delight audiences with his Motown classics and brilliant lyricism. See, there’s a reason why some (like Bob Dylan) hail him as the greatest living American song writer. In his timeless hit “My Girl,” Robinson may have “sunshine on a cloudy day,” but fans in Long Beach can expect a warm and distinctively Smokey summer evening at the Queen Mary.
