Show Announcement: Givin' Back to Gabby with the Adolescents, Manic Hispanics and More

A benefit featuring the Adolescents, Manic Hispanic, the Cadillac Tramps, the Grabbers and some special guests is being held Jan. 19 at House of Blues for Mike “Gabby” Gaborno. The longtime Manic Hispanic frontman had open-heart surgery late last year and upon returning from the hospital he suffered a stroke three days later. Gaborno has memory-loss and is unable to use the left side of his body. Friends and family have united to organize this benefit show to help offset the costs of the very expensive medical bills.

Manic Hispanic came together in the early-1990's as part of a work-release program. The idea came by OC Probation Officer Freddie Gomez. “I thought if I could keep these guys on a stage,” he says, “they would stay out of trouble on the streets.” The plan had worked. Instead of a life of lockdowns and orange jumpsuits, the Manic Hispanics sold out shows, got to travel, and were cracking jokes the whole time.

These seven vatos all have one thing in common–their love for classic punk rock. Manic Hispanic took the punk songs that they love and added a large dose of barrio humor. Members of Manic Hispanic have been in and are currently in: The Adolescents, Cadillac Tramps, The Grabbers, Punk Rock Karaoke, The X-Members, 22 Jacks, Final Conflict, and Agent Orange. Please come and support a man who has helped many. The benefit is all-ages and tickets are on sale now for $25. There will be special guests coming to perform Gabby's vocals that you won't want to miss. You never know who will show up.
