Semi Sweet are probably cooler than you. They look cool, they dress cool, and they write cool songs such as the darkly catchy “Heart Lock and Key” and hard-driving “Times Likes These,” both off their self-titled EP, which came out last fall. But it’s okay—you can hang out with them and try to acquire some of their coolness via osmosis at their Detroit Bar shows this month. This week’s is the last of their free residency shows. Also on the bill this week are fellow OC bands Seedless (Southland reggae) and Alejandro’s Awesome Surf Band (um, surf). Next week, they open for SF’s Girls, currently riding an inescapable wave of buzz that demands charging for admission.
