Review by Shawn Smith Better Than: Sitting home listening to raindrops hitting the pavement outside your bedroom window while watching reruns of I Love New York 2. The Bird and the Bee's Inara George rocks a granny dress like no one's business. But we'll get to that later. First, we must wax on about Kevin …

*Updated, with new info on the bottom… Earlier, we discussed the developmental gerrymandering that seemingly allows SanTana mayor Miguel Pulido and councilmember Vince Sarmiento to vote on the city's Renaissance Specific Plan (RSP), the controversial project that seeks to “diversify” and “revitalize” SanTana's downtown. Now, the Weekly has learned that another councilmember might have a …

This is cause …

Even back in 1992, copyright holders and their earnest propagandists were battling against illegal duplicating. This clever video puts human faces behind the adverse effects of piracy. Real people's livelihoods are at stake here, now more than ever in the brave new world of 2008. Think about that before you commit digital larceny, you with …
The “Courting Allusion” show, now on display at @Space gallery, is just plain awesome-but unfortunately, it's awesome in a way that's a real challenge to capture in words. Perhaps that's why the show's press release lays down such a thick barrage of art-school jibber-jabber, describing Alison Foshee and Sara Simon as “two artists who challenge …
People often gush about DJ Orgasm's wax. Reboot Sundays debuted at Proof Bar Dec. 30, and, by all reports, it went off extremely well. (We missed it, sadly. You can read my Sprawl of Sound feature on it here.) The new Santa Ana club night's next bill on Jan. 6 features DJ Orgasm (he favors …

Steve Aoki celebrates another smooth transition. A lot of people talk shit about Steve Aoki (a.k.a. Kid Millionaire), especially in OC. He's just a trustafarian, some say (pops founded the Benihana restaurant chain). His DJ skills are wack and his selections mediocre, others claim. He's a marketing whore and the epitome of hipster-dance-scene douchebaggery, yet …
