The Coachella lineup will soon be announced, but rumors are already circulating about who is headlining this year. We have some theories, but nothing is confirmed as of yet. The guessing game will continue on, and it's encouraged by the festival through many interactive forums. Right now, we are suspecting Arcade Fire, Daft Punk, Neil Young, The Strokes, Vampire Weekend and the Beastie Boys, at least, that is the scuttlebutt online. Arcade Fire
Last Coachella Appearance: 2007
Odds for 2011: Even
Why They'll Play: We're calling this one early. The band has already confirmed a Spring 2011 tour, and we've heard from three separate sources that they will indeed be gracing Coachella's mainstage.
CoS Says: Because what better way to celebrate a potential Grammy win in February than a triumphant Coachella gig in April?
Other possible headliners include Pearl Jam, who are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of their landmark album Ten this year. Weezer's recent tour around The Blue Album and Pinkerton could also make this a prime setting to showcase those records. Brit-pop legends Blur could certainly work in this context — and Damon Albarn headlined last year's festival with Gorillaz — as would Pulp, who have already confirmed a handful of dates in Europe. Should they want to go for the homerun and toss a bunch of cash toward Jeff Mangum and Neutral Milk Hotel, we're sure the Coachella devotees won't mind.
