Resurrection

When you think of horror movies, you can't help but think of Freddy Krueger. For those of us who grew up with scary movies, A Nightmare on Elm Street was the most recognizable and memorable of them all with that oh-so-charming Freddy and his razor-tipped glove that killed kids in their dreams. This premise spawned a whole generation of movies in the series and made Freddy a household name when it came to scare tactics, bloodshed and nightmares. Not to say that Jason from Friday the 13th, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and George W. Bush aren't worth recognition either.

With Halloween around the corner and a lack of good scary movies coming out—save perhaps Material Girls—Big-Screen Events, coinciding with the remastered DVD release of the movie on Sept. 26, will be showing the original A Nightmare on Elm Street on the full screen, upgraded to today's production standards—louder blood-curdling screams, probably more blood and perhaps an endorsement with Myspace. Not only will you be able to see Johnny Depp in his first big-screen role—getting killed of course—but you'll also be able to see a special, theater-exclusive montage of “Freddy's Best Kills” from throughout his film career, saving you the real horror of having to sit through the sequels to get to the parts you like best.

The event will only take place in select theaters and will entice horror-movie fanatics across the county to leave their parents' basements and take to the streets en masse, so purchasing your tickets in advance is recommended. Tickets are available through the Big-Screen Events website, or for those of you who are still too scared to leave your house, you can order the DVD from home via www.nightmareonelmstreet.com.
