The dessert at the recently opened Haven Gastropub in Orange ventures into unknown territory–territory that should have been left alone. Candied bacon ice cream?! Yes, you read that correctly: Porky Pig has been turned into ice cream. Although the first bite did not taste like bacon, the second bite was, well, unsettling. I had discovered the bacon chunks, and there was no going back.

After experiencing candied bacon ice cream, it was time for a more surefire dessert: the Irish Car Bomb. Consisting of a mini Irish cream chocolate cake, a scoop of Guinness ice cream, and Jameson caramel sauce, this backup dessert was ultimately satisfying, although a bit too sweet. The best part is that it has all of the alcoholic flavors of the cocktail of the same name, minus the hangover.
