Rest

There's a new powerhouse emerging onto the theater scene, and his name is Samuel D. Hunter. In addition to obtaining playwriting degrees from Julliard and NYU, he's won nearly four times as many awards as plays he's released to the world—so his newest production at the South Coast Repertory is an absolute must for the theatrically inclined. Directed by Martin Benson, Rest is the tale of a retirement home in northern Idaho (where Hunter grew up before moving to New York). Of the three remaining patients, one (Gerald, who has dementia) has walked off and no one can find him. His wife, Etta, and their friend Tom, along with the three remaining employees of the home, face uncertain futures, internal struggles and a massive storm in the search for missing Gerald. There's only one way to find out how it ends.

Tuesdays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: March 28. Continues through April 27, 2014
