In the 1990s, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher lobbied in Washington, D.C. on behalf of the Taliban at the exact time it harbored international criminal Osama bin Laden before the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
Rohrabacher felt comfortable asserting in public that the American news media had unfairly smeared the Taliban's good reputation as “devout traditionalists” by falsely linking them to terrorism and uncivilized habits against women.
With a long, hilarious history of delivering ridiculous statements, Rohrabacher's unequivocal defense of the Taliban is likely his most embarrassing, which is probably why he constantly lies about that past.
Confronted with the fact, Rohrabacher first lied and later reluctantly
admitted to me several years ago that he screwed up by backing the
Taliban, but Orange County's most senior career politician can't bring himself to take responsibility in public.
On Jan. 13, Rohrabacher–who'd like you to believe he's always been vociferously anti-Taliban–used his Twitter account to call Taliban members “blood thirsty nuts” and “terrorists.”
Once again, there was no explanation for the monumental flip-flop.
Still, it's nice to see that the congressman, who evaded Vietnam War military duty and is nowadays a shameless chicken hawk, has aligned himself with reality on the Taliban.
Even though this self-described conservative Republican personally worked to aid the Taliban–a move that no liberal Democrat matched, Rohrabacher felt comfortable blasting “liberals” for allegedly siding against four U.S. Marines who peed on the corpses of dead Taliban fighters.
He Tweeted: “Want to outrage a conservative? Pee on the American Flag. Want to outrage a liberal? Pee on a dead terrorist.”
a great, stolen line from non-dubious Republicans–none of whom likely ever
lobbied for the Taliban.
The conservative blogosphere previously had
been loaded with similar sentiments, such as:
“Pee on a crucifix, you're an 'artist.'
Pee on the American flag, you're a 'liberal free thinker.'
Pee on a police a car, you're an 'Occupy Wall Street protester hero.'
Pee on the dead Taliban piece of **** that just tried to kill you and your fellow Marines, you're a “villain.'”
