“The Dark Side” sheds light (get it?) on the internal conflict within the Bush administration over going to war against Iraq in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. This will be news to the millions of Americans who never knew there was an internal conflict within the Bush administration over going to war against Iraq in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. But, those Frontline muckrakers discover that none other than Vice President Dick Cheney, who would scare the willies out of Darth Vader, and then-CIA director George Tenet butted heads over that response—which has played itself out splendidly, no? It's a snap figuring out who argued for war because Americans know that Cheney would want to attack Iraq even if there were no 9/11—heck, knowing Dick's bloodlust, even if Saddam never invaded Kuwait—and Americans also know that Tenet is now long gone and his CIA consistently insisted there was no connection between Saddam and 9/11, and that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, even though everyone from NBC to Fox News (read: one in the same) continue to keep shitting on the CIA's pre-war intelligence. Unfortunately, Frontline airs on PBS, with nary a half-eaten cockroach, Simon Cowell or crime scene forensic scientist in sight, meaning that the only folks watching will be those who have questioned the war all along and thought it odd that a president would dangle a medal over a CIA director who supposedly got so much so wrong.
