Planet Anaheim

We know what you’re thinking, and the answer is “yes, they still exist.” And by continuing to sell out venues in which they perform, it’s clear that they’re doing quite well, thank you very much. The B-52s, known to some as the “world’s greatest party band,” haven’t had a huge hit single since the early ‘90s, but with perennial hits like “Love Shack,” “Rock Lobster,” and “Roam,” they can be commended for hanging in there and continuing to make music, well past the point where they might have been sustained by residual checks alone. Touring sans-beehives in support of their new record, Funplex (their first album of new material since 1992), the band is swinging by the House of Blues to, at the very least, rock the Crispy Catfish Nuggets, if not the lobster. Apparently we weren’t the first ones to think up that joke, as the House of Blues is offering a themed pre-show buffet at added cost featuring such menu items as “Private Idaho Homemade Potato Chips” and “Planet Claire Tossed Green Salad with Assorted Dressings.” Aqua Net Vinaigrette, perhaps?
