Plagiarism?: Video Game Art That Looks Like the Movies

We live in a world in which everyone's copying each the work of others. Musicians, artists, and writers often depend on outside sources as inspiration for their own “work.” Unfortunately, the video games and movie industries are no exceptions.

On numerous occasions, the artwork of video games and movie posters end up looking surprisingly similar. It's a common saying that imitation is the best form of flattery–if
this is truly the case, then the video games and movie industries must be head over heels for each other. Coincidence, or plagiarism? You be the judge.

Navy Moves Looks Like Commando



The generic tough guy on the cover of Navy Moves for the Commodore 64 is posing in the same exact position as Arnold Schwarzenegger in the promotional poster for Commando.

Contra Cover Looks like Predator, Rambo, and Baby Alien from Aliens



This one takes a page off of three different sources. Contra's two lead characters, Bill and Lance, look like Arnold Schwarzenegger from Predator and Sylvester Stallone from Rambo, respectively. Throw in the baby alien from the Aliens movies, and you've got the box art of the NES classic Contra.
