The New Leaders Council, Orange County Chapter, an organization dedicated to bringing together and supporting students and young people interested in progressive politics, presents a special screening of the documentary Stories from an Undeclared War. In the film, we follow 150 Long Beach students as they transform from “unteachable”, at-risk youth into adults—with the guidance of their teacher and inspiration from Anne Frank, they are able to find means of expression though writing, and away from drugs or gangs. Following the powerful documentary, the Yost Theater hosts a networking party featuring a book signing with Erin Gruwell, the teacher from the film.
