Patti Lupone

Millennials know Patti LuPone as the freaky Christian incestuous mother who lived next door to Jessica Lange, et al, in American Horror Story: Coven, and as herself in the guest spot on Girls in which she tells Hannah (Lena Dunham), during an interview, to be ready for her newly Broadway-situated boyfriend to turn into an asshole. Gen-Xers who aren’t theatre aficionados know LuPone as the mom from the family drama Life Goes On (and why isn’t this in reruns?), but those who took to musicals early in life have always known her as the queen of the musical. Yes, two-time Tony-winner (and multiple other awards too numerous to list) Patti LuPone is pretty much “it” when it comes to Broadway singers, and now’s your chance to hear one of the biggest, brassiest voices in showbiz and realize there was an entire world of ball-busting performers on the boards long before the female chipmunk craze took over in schlocky send-ups of blockbuster movies. We do cry for you, Evita, we do.
