One Tribe Festival Performers N Focus DJs Create a Mix for OC Weekly

If you can get down with the finest acts in electronic music such as Kygo and Gramatik, dig activities like stand up paddle, peddle boats, swimming and yoga, and you are in need of a seriously stunning backdrop to redefine your dance floor experience then you're in for a treat– it's called One Tribe Music Festival. Located on Lake Perris State Park in Riverside, ID&T (the producers behind TomorrowLand and Electric Zoo) and B3 Production (famous for their '90s events like JuJuBeats) have put together five stages and one Friday night camping experience with the Desert Hearts Crew featuring Mikey Lion, Lee Reynolds, Deep Jesus, Marbs, Porkchop and guests Pumpkin and Diamond Saints to serenade you by the campfire.

We had the chance to chat with Josh Billings and Nonfiction, who you know for their residency at Focus in Newport Beach and for their reputation of throwing a legendary party. They will grace the main stage, aka Beatport, at One Tribe and in spirit of that they have created an exclusive playlist for OC Weekly featuring a mixture of SoCal producers that have helped define their parties.

Josh Billings – Perspective (UDM 001 Releasing September 2015)

This is a track we are releasing together on Nonfiction's new label UDM Records. It's a track that has been tested at Focus more than any other and it's one that consistently kills for us. We are super excited to be able to share this with everyone after all the hard work we put into it. P.S. You guys are the FIRST to hear this song!

Aidan Lavelle, Robbie Akbal – Solaris Nights
When we want to play some trippy music and just get lost in what we're doing, this is one of the first tracks we turn to. It sets the tone and can bring people back down or start lifting them up. Super versatile track and a favorite whenever we play together.

&me – After Dark
A special tune for us.. a MAJOR hot [track] worldwide, but especially resonated with our crowd.  We could play this tonight and the focus Crowd still goes ape shit!

Sonny Fodera N Gene Farris – We Work It (Visionquest)
Another Focus anthem for sure!  Gene is a good friend of ours, so he sent this as an advanced copy. Within a few weeks, our crowd was singing along word for word.. This IS a focus track and happy that Focus was one of the first placed to break this record.

Claude Von Stroke – Who's Afraid of Detroit
This track is 9 years-old, but to this day, Focus goes nuts for it. I think this also marks the beginning of the dirtybird sound blowing up amongst the Focus crowd.

Mr V – Just Dance (Sole Channel Remix)
You know whats crazy?  Sometimes the most simple songs end up being the best!  This song is just a simple melody. Tight groove and playful percussion, with Mr V's voice echoing out instructions to the dance floor to “just dance.” A definite classic from back in the day that helps define us.

Maceo Plex – Your Style
Nonfiction has been one of the earlier Maceo Plex supporters and this track has been a staple of his sets since it released almost 5 years ago.

Doorly – 96
This is a newer tune, but as you can tell from the title it has them '90s vibes that we love!!  Doorly is also a good friend of ours and gave us the advance on this.  Wait for the break and then prepare to lose it (I got goosebumps just writing bout this song!!)

Jesse Rose – Playmate
Another staple that has been pumping out of the Focus speakers. Jesse Rose has and will always be a master producer- this track just represents our early / mid days of developing Focus into something bigger.

Blaze – Lovelee Dae (2020 Vision Remix)
Last but not least, this classic belter from Blaze. From Doc Martin, to Marques Wyatt– this is not only a Focus favorite, but a Southern California anthem (must be due to our weather).  Timeless and when play at the appropriate time.. KILLS overtime. It's also one of the first records I (Josh Billings) purchased. I think we might have to drop this at One Tribe  🙂
