Everything revolves around family for Joe Vieyra. His favorite memories include them, and he's building his own as an active parent with his sons in Boy Scouts. His extended family includes the community, where Pee-Wee's participates in local events on a regular basis.

What community events do you support?
Naturally, with scouting we perform many events over the year. Additionally, Pee-Wee's has been involved with both Marina High School and Goldenwest College. The past five years, my family has done “We Give Thanks.” Such a great event to support, sometimes we sign up for a double shift, slicing and dicing veggies. The “OC Stand Down” is another event that provides wonderful support to disadvantaged veterans.

Go Cal Poly Pomona! We also went there for Hospitality Management. Any memorable experiences or professors?
My inspiration for attending Cal Poly was Professor Bill Martin. I had received training under him at In-N-Out. Many of the strategies I use today were learned from him.
Where did you grow up?
I was born/raised in the San Gabriel Valley. When I met my wife, she was already living in OC.
Hardest lesson you've learned:
Allowing situations to play out. Interfere too soon, and no one learns from it, and you appear controlling.
Last movie watched; how was it?
Caught Now You See Me with my son– it was a fun escape film.
What's your favorite childhood memory?
Road trips with my parents and brother, Michael. Typical kids playing games or taking turns sleeping under the rear window – That's right, no seat belts then!
Do you have any skills that are non-food related?
Does ice carving with a chainsaw count? We don't eat it.
What would you be doing if you weren't in this business?
Hopefully some sort of training. I enjoy helping others better themselves at work or home.
When you're not in the kitchen, what are you doing?
As General Manager, you're always on: working on schedules, reviewing the budget, projecting sales trends. My sons and I spend a great deal of time in Scouting. This has been a fantastic way for us to share outdoor adventures. We've camped on an empty beach on Catalina to white-water rafting on the Kern river, in addition to multiple community projects.
