Now Open: El Amerikano In Downtown Fullerton

A few months back, I saw a nondescript storefront over at Fullerton's transportation depot had gone out of business. It was Seafood Grill, but construction was already underway on another concept. On Monday I drove by and noticed signage, but didn't have time to check it out. Thank goodness for tipsters!

El Amerikano's Spanish-inspired cuisine is run by the same management group that brought the DTF neighborhood Kentro Greek Kitchen back in 2011. They purchased it from the folks who operated (the now closed) ENVY Ultra Lounge. Rumor has it that team ENVY wanted to convert it into something called The Draft Grillhouse. However, when their other concept, The Woods, didn't quite fly– they dropped it. Are you confused yet? I am.

El Amerikano has no tweets on Twitter, no images on Instagram, no Facebook updates since December, and no menu posted on their website. I think it's a bit secretive, considering you're now open. But to each, their own. My friendly neighborhood tipster referred us to Fullerton Foundry for more photos I could magnify, providing an idea of what to expect. I spotted lots of meat on the menu, such as a prime rib sandwich, jidori chicken and Duroc pork chops. Also noted were deviled eggs, cobblers and burgers. That covers all the mandatory food groups.

Someone go eat there and report back! Inquiring Forkers (and Weeklings) want to know.

El Amerikano is located at 100 S. Harbor Blvd, Suite D in Fullerton; www.elamerikano.com.
