Wax On, Wax Off: Pendleton Party at American Rag

Last night, a bunch of folks from the local apparel scene gathered for a party at Fashion Island's American Rag in Newport Beach. The event was held mainly to

commemorate and bring attention to the trendy shop's stock of new Pendleton wool Boardshirts.

Cheeseburger sliders, brownies, chocolate chip cookies and Pabst Blue Ribbon cans in brown bags were served to guests.

In Addition to the plaid-patterned wools, the event also highlighted American Rag's new t-shirt printing equipment.

For $22, shoppers can choose from among four black and white prints with a certain vintage longboard flavor to accompany the classic style of the Pendleton shirts.
As is the case with many of the alternative happenings in Orange County, it was a little weird to see a bunch of ragged hipsters and punks brown-bagging PBRs at the shoppers' heaven and thinkers' hell that locals (only half-jokingly) call “Fascist” Island.

England's the Pendletons all donned the bright wools as part of their punk getup. The band, fronted by singer Davie Warsop, filled the air with joyfully poppy punk rock sounds, and the south end of the horseshoe-shaped shop was packed with flannel-wearing hipsters and industry types having a good time.
