Onotria Wine Country Cuisine has emerged in the past year as one of Orange County's true treats, a place where chef Massimo Navarretta expertly crafts Italian cuisine at an affordable price. Now Onotria is scheduled to become something better today: a food fair.
The fun comes courtesy of Slow Food Orange County, a group of gourmands that adheres to the principles of the Slow Food movement (locally produced, organic product). Members plan to hold quarterly public gatherings highlighting Orange County restauranteurs who incorporate Slow Food ideas into their delicious menus. At this event, Slow Fooders will man booths highlighting specialty Italian wines, cheese, meats, balsamic vinegars, coffees and even olive oils. Navarretta will also prepare a special menu for the evening. Come for the food, stay for the food nerds.
Slow Food Orange County Food Fair at Onotria, 2831 Bristol St., Costa Mesa, (714) 641-5952. Thurs., Feb. 1, 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. $60; $50 for Slow Food members. 21+.
