Orange County Democratic Assemblyman Tom Umberg engages in an extramarital affair with a woman who later goes all Glenn Close on him and starts showing up at his house, forwarding their e-mails to the Register, etc. Umberg owns up to and apologizes for his shenanigans in 2005 and is instantly forgiven by his Republican opponents, who understand that people make mistakes and everyone deserves a chance for redemption.
