Arts and Crafts and Boobs

Delilah Snell and niece Nicole Stevenson want to change the way you shop. And not only through Snell's hip, little eco-chic boutique, the Road Less Traveled, and not just through Stevenson's quirky clothing line, Random Nicole. But they also want to declare a full-scale war on the way you spend your dibs. Their first strike? Patchwork, an alternative arts-and-crafts sale, on Sunday, bringing together like-minded small-business people with a passion for handmade fashion.

Among the vendors, you'll find clothing for men, women and children; accessories; art; culinary treats; paper goods; and items for your home. And what would a day of shopping be without some good grub? The Gypsy Den and Memphis Café will be on hand to tide you over before taking advantage of massage services and more shopping.

More than 30 vendors are onboard, including Harvey's ubiquitous seatbelt bags, m.o.m.'s vintage-inspired kids' wear, Cinnamon Roll Gang's wacky dolls and handbags, Spragwerks' rock N roll jewelry and belt buckles (we're partial to the Big 55-style microphone pendant), Whodini Handmade bags, and more.

Plus, there are boobies. Lots of 'em. A portion of the proceeds benefits www.keepabreast.org, a nonprofit that raises awareness and funds for breast-cancer education, prevention and treatment. They also make and sell casts of people's breasts that artists turn into unique creations for the cause.

“We really want to give people an opportunity to buy something created locally from the artist who made it,” says Snell (who, it must be noted, is dating Weekly staff writer Gustavo Arellano). “It's not just about consuming. . . . It's about conscious consumption, knowing where your T-shirt or purse came from.”

Patchwork is at the parking lot behind the Road Less Traveled, 2202 ½ N. Main St., Santa Ana, (714) 836-8727. Sun., 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
