Kim Phuc, who became known as “Napalm Girl” after her image was captured by Associated Press photographer Nick Ut during the Vietnam War, will speak Sunday at Liberty Baptist Church of Newport Beach.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Ut's photo, which shows a nine-year old Phuc fleeing naked from a burning village in Vietnam.

Phuc, 49, was raised in the small village of Trang Bang, located along the main supply road between Phnom Penh and Saigon during the war. The village was bombed with napalm by the South Vietnamese Air Force on June 8, 1972.
Phuc emerged from the pagoda where her family had been hiding, and Ut shot the photo of her screaming in agony from napalm burns.
She will speak at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The church is located at 1000 Bison Ave. in Newport Beach.
