Long Beach's Call the Cops Recording MySpace Records Debut, Added to 2010 Hot Topic and Vans Warped Tour

Could Long Beach quintet Call the Cops, which recently signed to MySpace/Interscope Records and excel at sugary power pop, be next year's local breakout band?

They've just been added to the Hot Topic Presents 2010 Sub City Take Action Tour that kicks off January 25 in Atlanta and closes March 2 in Dallas. We The Kings, a Tampa Bay band I wrote about back in 2007, headline along with Mayday, Parade, There For Tomorrow and A Rocket to the Moon. Then in June, Call the Cops hook up with the Vans Warped Tour for a bunch of dates including at stop at the Fairplex in Pomona June 25. That means the Long Beach band will spend pretty much the next seven months playing to multitudes of screaming teen girls, the kind who become loyal fans fast and have no problem blowing their babysitting money at the merch table.
Call the Cops are currently in the studio working on their MySpace/Interscope debut with producers Matt Squire (3Oh3!, All Time Low, Panic! At the Disco), Tim Pagnotta (lead singer of Sugarcult) and Ian Kirk Patrick. Look for the EP to be released in the spring.
After the jump: Official video for Call the Cops' single “Love Like Novocaine” and an amusing “making of” clip.
