The Pacific Northwest does it again, exporting (at least momentarily) another eclectic ensemble in the form of New Orleans-style swingers Miss Mamie Lavona the Exotic Mulatta and Her White Boy Band. While they’re certainly no Foo Fighters or Neko Case, they do fulfill (quite adequately) the nichey market of yesteryear music reprocessed that we so enjoy from Fishtank Ensemble and the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Lead singer Miss Mamie is the requisite shapely, throaty diva and the vibe is smothered in vaudeville and exotica. So disembark that electronica/hip-hop train for a few stops and drink in some sexy, underworld novelties—you never know when the trip might be your last.
