Major Talent

For a generation of principled punkers, the name Ian MacKaye inspires devotional awe. As founding member of both seminal straight-edge band Minor Threat and legendary post-hardcore group Fugazi as well as founder of the successful Washington, D.C., independent label Dischord, MacKaye has more than made his mark on musical history. Flagrantly anti-corporate, he has built a successful career without ever charging $60 for a ticket or selling a Fugazi T-shirt. Today, he opens himself up for some audience questions at this UC Irvine symposium, organized by Acrobatics Everyday, the praiseworthy student organization that has been booking incredible campus shows for a while now. Show up with some queries for the witty and thoughtful man . . . but leave the brewskies at home, please.
