Long Beach Fine Art & Wine Festival

First off, let's take a second to remember that Memorial Day is not national BBQ season kick-off day, nor the official no-work-hit-the-beach holiday. It has an incredibly heavy, very solemn meaning. So thank someone who has served, donate to a veteran's charity, and pause to reflect all those brave souls we've lost in war. And while you're at it, perhaps ask a veteran if they'd like to accompany you on a pleasant outing, like to the Long Beach Fine Art & Wine Festival. Held at the water-adjacent Marina Green Park, the festival features original works from dozens of artists (in nearly as many mediums), plus food trucks and a beer garden. Presented by the West Coast Artists organization, a group that's been bringing art fests to the community for more than 30 years, the Long Beach Fine Art & Wine Festival is as pleasant a way to spend the day as any—just don't forget why you've got it off in the first place.
