Combining old-school circus traditions of acrobatic performance and the art of clowning, Cirque du Soleil revisit their origins as a touring tent show for KOOZA at the Orange County Great Park. The Montreal-based, body-bending troupe celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, and this new, improved show replaces some of the highly technical tricks (waterfalls, fireballs) for which they’ve become known with colorful, surreal set design and some good old-fashioned clownery. More lithe and slinky than the rest of us, Cirque members in KOOZA serve up a vivacious mélange of acrobatic feats, juggling techniques, and complex dance maneuvers to sate one’s inner circus performer.

Tuesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 1 & 5 p.m. Starts: Jan. 8. Continues through Jan. 31, 2010
