Kolache Factory Now Open In Tustin

We discovered the Texas-based chain planting roots in Orange County a couple of months ago. Tuesday was Kolache Factory's grand opening, and we stopped by after our workout to check out their wares.

Above you'll notice an assortment of baked goodness. All items are under four dollars. The ones that most resemble dinner rolls are savory kolaches, filled with either ham and cheese ($1.89) or sausage ($1.09). The sausage was more Lil' Smokie than breakfast link, but we didn't mind. Fruit-filled delights ($1.39) were some of the healthier options, clocking in at just over 200 calories each. Also pictured is a cinnamon twist ($2.09) and strudel niks ($2.09)

You know we just had to have one of their meals in one, and it was in the form of a sausage, egg and cheese kolache ($2.69). Tasting a little mild, we found bottles of Tabasco on the counter tops to make up for it. Too early to think about their lunch offerings, we decided that means a return trip! The cashier is able to briefly place your order in a warmer, making a difference with their savory items.

Next Tuesday is their formal ribbon cutting. Stop by to support a new business, but linger to eat. Welcome to the neighborhood, Kolache, and let the bakery wars begin!
