New York Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez was arrested last night after clashing with his wife's father in the hallway outside the team's clubhouse at Citi Field, police said.
Rodriguez, 28, allegedly fought with his 53-year-old father-in-law after the Mets' 6-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies, sending dear old dad to the hospital with injuries to his face and head.
Rodriguez played for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for seven years. In that time he helped the Halos to their first World Series title in 2002 and broke the single-season saves' record with 62 in 2008, his final year with the club.

Rodriguez was charged with third-degree assault. New York police did not release the victim's name.
K-Rod, who earned the nickname in 2002 for his high number of strike-outs, is known for his fiery temper and emotional play on the mound.
According to the Daily News, Rodriguez exploded at reporters just before the fight broke out.
Rodriguez didn't pitch in the Mets' loss. The team blew their 2-1 lead when they allowed the Rockies to score five runs in the eighth inning; Mets' manager Jerry Manuel didn't call on Rodriguez to help subdue the Rockies sudden offensive outburst.
“Did I fucking pitch tonight? Why do I have to talk to you fucking guys?” he asked reporters.

Part of the fight was witnessed by a few women and children who were in the hallway waiting to meet Mets players after the game before security escorted Rodriguez back into the clubhouse.
