Our reasons to frequent Fullerton in the past year have increased by leaps and bounds thanks to visionaries like Joseph Mahon. Us Forkers are practically falling over each other with bated breath for news of his former pop-up, now brick-and-mortar launch (Note: he emailed me to say August). As if that wasn't enough, we've now received word of an ADDITIONAL restaurant concept he plans to open next month. Well, that explains why Burger Parlor is taking so long…because he's planning for a breakfast joint.
Located on the corner of Brea Boulevard and Bastanchury, Early Bird will
be located in the former home of Lomeli's, an Italian joint. Co-owned
with entrepreneur Tank Menzies and nutritionist Marcello Caraveo, we
leave it to Mahon to explain the concept,
“Delicious, freshly prepared locally sourced food should not be an exception, it's a rule. Expensive menu items do not translate to great or even good food. At Early Bird we provide value through our Chef Driven Food Quality, Single Origin Coffee, Service, and Competitive Price Point. Everything on our menu ranges from around $7-$13. Early Bird will bring the best of both worlds, a chef driven restaurant at a price everyone can afford.”
Serving breakfast and lunch, we are making a beeline to the brioche French toast, served with apple compote, orange butter and spiced almonds. However, the morning side “pizza”, featuring sunny-side up eggs, Parmesan and tomato compote on puff pastry gets us salivating as well. Decisions, decisions. Joseph, do you really believe this will tide us over until you-know-what opens? Well, you're (almost) correct.
Early Bird will open at 1000-B East Bastanchury Road in Fullerton.
